Even before I had kids, I was a total deal-seeker. I couldn’t see spending full price on clothing when I knew that stores often had sales and awesome end-of-season clearance deals. Now that I have kids, finding great deals on clothing is even more important than before because kids grow so quick, and it seems that their wardrobe is updated multiple times throughout the year. For the past three years, I have shopped end of season sales for the following year. So, most of my toddler’s clothing was purchased last winter for this current season. I find that I can score some awesome deals, but I have to gauge sizing correctly and hope I’m not off by too much.
Now, if you have kids, then you have probably heard of Cookie’s Kids. They have great deals on childrenswear, whether you are looking for school uniforms or everyday clothing. My toddler is quickly embracing her own style and loves picking out her own clothes. I make her part of most decision making when it comes to herself, because I want her to learn how to be independent and make decisions on her own. The first thing she says when we begin looking at clothes is, “I want pink” and the next phrase is usually, “I want Hello Kitty!” I don’t know what it is about Hello Kitty, but she has made a comeback in this new generation and kids are loving her. My toddler loves cats, so it’s only natural that Hello Kitty is a fixture in our home. From school gear to clothing, Hello Kitty is on my little girl’s mind all the time.
After checking out department stores for Hello Kitty apparel, I wasn’t too thrilled with the prices I found- anywhere from $30-50 for an outfit that my toddler will outgrow within a few months. I just couldn’t see spending that much. When I checked out Cookie’s Kids, the first tab I clicked was “clearance.” I ALWAYS check out the clearance section before anything else, just so I don’t miss a good deal. After heading to the clearance section, I search for Hello Kitty and found a few outfits that my toddler could pick from. She immediately chose a black velour outfit that was only available in her size! That’s one problem with clearance sales- you are limited to sizes and styles, but the savings is well worth it! I saved 70% on this Hello Kitty outfit, paying only $14.99 for a usually $50 set! How’s that for savings?
Now that I have two little girls, I can’t shop for one without shopping for the other, so I headed to the infant section in the clearance area. I found some adorable girls dresses and my toddler immediately fell in love with a pink and black leopard dress for her little sister. I love that she always thinks of her sister when we are shopping, but my infant really didn’t need another dress and I wanted to stick with something a bit more practical. I found a Puma jumpsuit that was perfect, and figured I could probably squeeze another year out of it if I got the right size. I usually purchase my children’s clothing bigger and put a few stitches in their clothes so they can get some extra wear out of them. As they grow, I snip the stitches, and voila! We have extended wear clothing!
I feel great knowing I didn’t spend a fortune on my girls’ clothing. For a velour Hello Kitty outfit and an infant size Puma track
suit, I spent only $30, and saved 70%! With spring just around the corner, Cookie’s Kids has lots on clearance to make room for their new spring line! Looking for that perfect spring outfit for that handsome little boy in your life? Cookie’s Kids has many boys suits that are perfect for Easter and other spring events! If you are in the New York area, Cookie’s Kids has 7 stores in the NYC area including Bronx, Brooklyn, and Jamaica.
