When we moved into our new house I literally had all the kids toys packed up into boxes. As much as I want my kids to be playing quietly with their toys I just had other priorities for unpacking…..kitchen stuff, bathrooms, clothes, etc. So, I kept paper, markers, and crayons out on the kitchen table and the kids did lots of drawing and crafts while we were getting settled.
Then one weekend we had a play date with a friend the kids have known since they were little. They were thrilled to see a familiar face, but I think they were more excited about the Glow Crazy Doodle Dome I set up in the middle of the den for the kids to play with. The Glow Crazy Doodle Dome by Techno Source is a portable glow art studio. They used the Glow Crazy light pen to draw and write on the dome’s special inner glow walls. My 4 year-old created giant spider webs using the light pen, and he practiced writing his name and various letters of the alphabet. My 3 year-old was making fun silhouettes with his hands and toys. And their play mate was using the stencils sheets that came with the Glow Dome to create glow scenes. I think the kids were literally playing with the Glow Dome for the entire play date.
I love anything that sparks my kids creativity. Both of my boys have good imaginations and love engaging in imaginative play….so this is an ideal activity for them. I also have a little issue with my 4 year-old and his interest in learning and practicing the alphabet so I can easily disguise alphabet practice as Glow Dome fun to get him engaged through this medium.
The Glow Crazy Doodle Dome includes light pen, 4 stencil sheets and everything needed to assemble the glow dome in a handy carrying case. Requires 2 AAA batteries (not included). Ages 3+. MSRP: $19.99.
