It is OKAY to have a drink when you are breastfeeding! The good thing about breastmilk is that it is made on demand and does not actually get stored, so if you decide to have a drink, you can time your pumping or feeding sessions around when you have a drink. I rarely drank when I was nursing my daughter, but I did have an event where I enjoyed a few drinks. I wasn’t sure if my milk was safe for her to drink, so I pumped it and dumped it. I know for a lot of moms dumping their liquid gold is enough to send them into panic mode, but I didn’t want to take the chance of inebriating my little one.
I heard of MilkScreen test strips but didn’t actually try them out because I didn’t know where to buy them. Also, I didn’t have alcoholic beverages often so having milk strips wasn’t a constant necessity. Now that I know about them and can find them at my local Babies R Us, I would consider using them and always have a box around. This will definitely ease my mind about having a drink when I go out with my hubby and not worry about whether or not I will have alcohol in my breastmilk.
Milkscreen test strips are super easy to use! Simply place breastmilk on the test pad and wait 2 minutes for the results. That’s all! Find out more about Milkscreen test strips and connect with them on Facebook to stay up to date on their latest announcements.
