The new school year in starting in just a few weeks and my preschooler is getting the jitters. She expresses to me that she has dreams where she’s in school and crying, and while it’s not her first school experience it will be a new school setting for her this year. Her friend from preschool seems to have the same reservations because she is already stating she will not go to “the big girl school.” I know last year they were great buddies and had a fun filled year, so I can’t imagine what would cause so much anxiety for them aside from a change of scenery?
To ease into the schoolyard and celebrate this milestone we threw a little back to school party with their favorite character- Peppa Pig. Peppa is beloved by my kids and their friends, so we hosted a play date with Peppa-themed goodies. The kids enjoyed coloring time with Peppa Pig Coloring Tote Books which included twistable crayons that neatly tucked into the book when not in use (perfect for on the go!) a Peppa Pig notebook they can use in school along with a lunch pail and sandwich case. These goodies are a perfect way to get excited for the new school year ahead. During snack time the girls watched Peppa Pig Sunny Vacation and afterwards my oldest read Peppa’s School Day to the younger girls.

By the end of the play date I had the younger girls a little more excited for a new school year. I’m hoping this lighthearted play date featuring their favorite character will ease their fears and be a great reminder that school is fun and there’s so much to learn. Thanks to the folks behind Peppa Pig for providing goodies for the kids! If you have a Peppa Pig fan in your home, be sure to check out Peppa Pig Sunny Vacation to celebrate the end of summer.
