Holiday Gift Guide: Mint Automatic Floor Cleaner

 

Quite a few of my friends have automatic floor cleaners and I have always been skeptical about them. I don’t understand them – how do they know where to clean, what not to bump into, and whether or not they missed a spot? Not one of my friends have ever complained about their floor cleaner, so I suppose they must be working well. As a matter of fact, they usually have great things to say about them.

When I was contacted to review the Mint, I figured this would be a great way for me to try it out for myself to see what all the hype is. The Mint uses disposable cleaning cloths, although you can use your own microfiber cloths if you choose. The Mint sweeps AND mops floors which is definitely a plus for me. Dust, particles, and pet hair all get trapped in the cloth. So, to finally answer my own question of how this thing knows where to go, the Mint uses NorthStar Navigation which works like an indoor GPS. It tells the Mint where it has cleaned, and where it still needs to clean. Pretty smart if you ask  me!
