It’s our first year with a real back yard and my husband and I had so much to do to prepare for a summertime of fun and new memories. We did a complete backyard renovation by cutting down all the clutter and excess trees, laying down a new patio, and a fresh new layer of sod for gorgeous grass. It was a month long project that felt like an eternity, but as soon as it was over, I was ready to decorate! A new patio set is in our future, as well as some fun outdoor play sets for the kids. Our summer kitchen needed a facelift as well, but for now we are stocking the cabinets full of vibrant new dishes, serving utensils, and BBQ necessities.
For most of our decor, Pier 1 was the place to go. They helped give us ideas of what we needed and wanted to make our outdoor oasis a reality. I love the vibrant colors Pier 1 has to offer and they have so much to choose from! From papasan-style chairs to brightly colors patio umbrellas, there is nothing that was lacking in the Pier 1 shops! On our list, we needed some new flatware, table decor, and dishes. Once my husband and I got to the store, we were amazed by the selection Pier 1 had to offer. We’ve been to Pier 1 in the past, and have given Pier 1 products as favors for some of our events. Both of my daughter’s baptisms feature Pier 1 centerpieces, so we knew that we would find what we were looking for at Pier 1. What we weren’t ready for was the overwhelming feeling of wanted EVERYTHING we saw! New wine glasses, BBQ essentials, summer kitchen and outdoor decor- they had so much to choose from!
Since our budget was limited, we kept it simple (this time around.) Flatware was a must have, and so was a citronella lamp. A serving tray would help transport our outdoor catering necessities to and from the summer kitchen, and a flatware caddie was a must. I was able to get most of what I wanted in our first trip, but we had order the flatware caddie to be delivered to our home since it wasn’t in stock. Get this- when you go to a Pier 1 store and they don’t have something in stock, they can send it to your home and don’t charge you shipping! How awesome is that? The customer service we received in the store was amazing, and the store clerks were able to guide me and give me ideas to help complete the style I was going for.
To show off our new Pier 1 items, we hosted a BBQ with our closest friends and family. The simplest parties are always the best, and we cooked chicken and pork souvlaki with hot dogs, quinoa salad, grilled veggies, and tzatsiki on the side. YUM! This is what summer is all about!
