Once October hits, everything turns pink. It is no secret that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and it seems that each year more and more people tune in to this cause and try to make a difference. While hosting giveaways doesn’t seem like making much of a difference, it actually is because it is bringing awareness to this serious cause and making people aware of why it is so important to think pink this month. Having a relative who is a breast cancer survivor, I know first hand how this disease effects the person who has it and all the people around them.
I love that a lot of big companies have created pink products that come with a donation to the Susan Komen foundation when you make your purchase. This is a great way for companies and consumers to give back by making purchases. Soda Stream has turned their machines pink this month, and making a donation with each pink Fizz soda maker and bottles that are purchased.
Let me tell you more about the Soda Stream machine. My mother in law was the first person that I knew who had it. I wasn’t overly interested in it because it just seemed to take up space on the counter without really doing much – and can those sodas really taste like the real thing? She whipped me up an energy drink within seconds and I have to admit, as skeptical as I was, this drink tasted EXACTLY like Red Bull! My husband loves the Cola flavor, as he is a Coca Cola junkie.
After poking around their site, I learned that Soda Stream has some natural mixers that do not contain artificial sweeteners. I’m not a fan of anything artificial, so at this point, the Soda Stream machine became much more intriguing to me! After receiving my machine to review, I hopped on over to Bed Bath and Beyond who has a HUGE selection of Soda Stream products and I chose the all natural ginger ale syrup. With my review product, I also received some flavors that I thought would be yummy, such as Black Currant and Pear Sparkling Naturals, and the Raspberry My Water syrup.
Within minutes, the CO2 container was hooked up and my pink Soda Stream maker was ready to go. Three pumps later I had seltzer, which was just a fraction of the price that I would pay for seltzer at my local supermarket. My hubby tried out the Sparkling Naturals Black Currant and Pear, and we even made a Sparkling Naturals Ginger Ale. My own recommendation with the sparkling naturals: put in the syrup SLOWLY as it will cause a lot of fizzing and make your bottle overflow. Another thing – taste your soda after adding half the syrup, because some of them tend to be very strong. I like a hint of flavor in my sparkling water, so the recommended amount is a bit too much for me.
