I guess you can say that when it came to teething, my hubby and I were spoiled by our older daughter. She effortlessly popped up her two bottom teeth at 11 months, and didn’t have any more teeth until she was almost two years old! Unfortunately she did get all her teeth in at the same time, while she was also suffering with RSV, then two stomach viruses. Since everything hit her (and us) at once, teething was never an issue on its own.
Until my infant came along. She has been teething since she was 3 months old. gnawing, chewing, and sucking on anything in sight. She is often cranky, crying, and smacks herself in the face from the pain she is in. She doesn’t like her teething toys frozen, so I keep them cool in the fridge, but she often loses interest. I’ve done the “cold wet rag” which seems to work best, but after a while she doesn’t want that either. She wakes up screaming in the middle of the night from pain, and tugs at her ears often. She is completely attached to my hip every minute of the day, and it’s starting to wear on me.
I try to reason it- I know she’s in pain, and I really can’t give her pain meds everyday. Yesterday I purchased natural teething relief pills for her, but I remember when they were recalled a few years ago and I’m a little reluctant to use them. I know my little girl will grow up quick, and I love the extra snuggles, but I’m afraid that this will also cause bad habits since it is dragging on so long.
Do you have any teething advice or relief tips?
I think the initial teething is wearing on everyone in the house. I don’t know how you feel about it but there is also that Orajel to help numb it. As long as she doesn’t have any infections or complications, it will pass soon enough. Sorry I don’t have more tips 🙁
I have no advice. Both my girls didn’t give us any trouble with teething, but I know my sister-in-law is having a tough time with my niece.
I always used those hyland’s teething tablets. they were the only thing that worked for us. Then when they got big enough I let them gnaw on biter biscuits.
