So much has changed in the way of learning and education since I was in school. Now schools are focused on STEM – Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math because so many of the principles applied to those subjects are relevant in our day to day lives. STEM products aid in developing skills in those areas and encourage kids to have a better understanding and appreciation for those skills. These products are generally in the form of toys and can help develop problem-solving skills through play – kids don’t even realize they are learning!
Best Buy has a variety of STEM-promoting products that are available for various ages and stages. Just recently, we received the Circuit Scribe Basic Kit ($49.99) from Best Buy which allows kids ages 8 and up to build their own electrical circuit with the included pieces and other items around the house. With this kit, kids may learn the basics of electrical concepts with a hands-on approach.
The Circuit Scribe Basic Kit comes with 11 pieces, including a 9-volt battery to power up your circuits. The most interesting part is the included pen where you can draw with ink that conducts electricity and make your own circuits. For Father’s Day, my oldest and my husband spent some quality time together figuring out how various items conduct electricity and how some items don’t. Check out our video below!
You can find out more about the Circuit Scribe Basic Kit by visiting Best Buy on the web or heading to your local Best Buy store. There are many items to choose from, but for someone who is just beginning to get their feet wet in the world of electrical currents, we really enjoyed the Circuit Scribe set.
