Last year I decided to get my little girl a Tag Jr., even though I know she was a bit young for it. I chose books that I thought had important messages for her developmental stage, such as learning colors, numbers, letters, and sharing with friends. She used it all the time, but now that she is a year older (2) she understands more of what is being read to her and interacts more with her stories. Just recently, I gave her a Leapster 2 and I’m shocked at how well she learned to play so quickly!
When I was chosen to host the Leapfrog Learn, Create, and Share party, I was more than ecstatic. I know that Leapfrog stands for quality educational toys that are also fun. There are mixed messages when it comes to parents and education at such a young age. While I don’t believe in spoon-feeding knowledge to a toddler, I do believe in teaching them age-appropriate skills.
Yesterday I had a few friends over to celebrate some of Leapfrog’s awesome learning tools. The age range of the children were 2-5 and each parent got to test drive the Tag Reading System and the LeapPad learning tablet. Let me tell you more about these amazing educational toys:
Most LeapFrog toys can be personalized – you plug them into your computer and there is a learning path which tells you about your child’s developmental stage and the age-appropriate toys for them. I signed up for this when my daughter received MyPal Violet on her first Christmas. Since I was already signed up, it was easy to connect our other Leap Frog toys to this system. When she turns on her Tag Jr, it says her name – and she loves it!
The LeapPad learning tablet is no different. You can personalize this kid-friendly tablet and it even includes a built in camera and video recorder. There are over 100 cartridge games available including reading apps. With touch screen capability and an included stylus, your child is ready to read, play games, and have fun with this fun gadget. Think there is too much fun and games in this toy? Well, with a broad curriculum that includes reading, mathematics, science, geography, art, music, language, and health – your child is sure to have a lot of well-rounded “playing” time. As your child plays, the skill level automatically adjusts so that kids can learn at their own pace.
In a few years my toddler will graduate from her Tag Jr with the Tag Reading System. Did you know that Tag is the #1 selling reading system and is actually recommended by 99% of teachers? I love the Tag Jr. system because of it’s ease of use for chubby little fingers that may not be quite ready for a pen-style reader. The Tag is certainly designed for older children who are learning to read. Everything in the Tag books is interactive which makes stories come to life. Currently there are over 40 books available for the Tag Reading System which covers a broad curriculum and learning experiences.
My mommy friends and I are so thankful that we were chosen to host this amazing party. Thank you LeapFrog!
Disclosure: I received free LeapFrog products in order to host a Learn, Create, and Share party. Leapfrog did not influence my opinions expressed here as a result.
