With two daughters, my home is “everything girlie.” Pink, purple, glitter and a ton of tutus is what my girls are about, and nothing says “girlie” more than Barbie! My oldest daughter has been into Barbie for a few years now, but lately she’s found videos on YouTube with Barbie and the Pearl Princess and found out more information about Barbie and the Secret Door. When I told her she can invite friends over for an after school playdate to share Barbie with her friends, she was so excited! Since we had two days off last week from NYC schools, Wednesday was really Friday for us. It was the perfect time to host a playdate!
During our play date, the girls played with their new Barbie dolls. My youngest instantly gravitated to the Butterfly Barbie and the coloring book, while the older girls went for the mermaid and sparkle dress Barbies. After some time of role playing with their new Barbies and a collection of my daughter’s older Barbies, the girls colored, painted, and decorated their sticker pages with all things Barbie. When dinner time rolled around, the girls watched while noshing on nuggets. The girls were excited to view the movie and it was a great way to wind down from their busy day of school and play.
In Barbie and the Secret Door, we meet Alexa who is a shy princess. Once she finds a secret door she is instantly transported to a new world where she meets mystical creatures like unicorns, fairies, and even mermaids! She makes new friends who need help saving their world and learns she has magical powers which can help her new friends. I think this movie sends a great message to children of various ages by teaching them compassion, the importance of friendships, and dealing with hard situations. Barbie and the Secret Door is now available in stores and online. You can visit the Barbie website to learn more about and purchase the DVD.
There is an entire line of Barbie and the Secret Door dolls available at your local Target. Be sure to keep Barbie and the Secret Door in mind this holiday season for that Barbie fan in your life!
