The past two weeks have definitely been different from the norm in my home. We are in the process of moving into a new house, and Superstorm Sandy threw us off-course a bit. We were supposed to move two weeks ago, but we didn’t get power back in the new house until 13 days after the storm so we’ve been staying with my parents. Most of the kids toys, and just about everything else, is packed into boxes. So, to thank my boys for being so well-behaved during this impromptu change of plans, I presented them with the Lite Brix Super Light Building System from Cra-Z-Art.
My boys are on the young side for the Lite Brix, which are recommended for ages 6+, but with my help we were able to construct a very cool Space Trooper. I would ordinarily task my husband with Building System assembly, but he was busy painting and cleaning at the house so I gave it a shot. The instructions were very easy to follow. My boys are 3 and 4 so they didn’t quite have the strength or fine motor skills to get the pieces to snap together properly so I showed them how to do it and had them “help” me with the assembly. They were just happy the Space Trooper was starting to take shape. My 4-year-old kept asking excitedly “I have the head….is it time for the head yet?”.
Once assembled we plugged our Space Trooper in and he lit up with his super bright LED light-up bricks! Both boys exclaimed a long drawn out “wow!” when they saw him cycle through four different colors. Each translucent brick glows with vibrant sparkling lights, which even caught the attention of my 9-month old baby. She crawled right over to see our Lite Brix creation. My 4-year old spend most of the afternoon playing with the Space Trooper independently while my 3-year old wanted to plug him in and watch the light show.
One nice feature of the Lite Brix Super Light Building system is that they are compatible with other major brick building systems. They have connector pieces that attach the Lite Brix to each other so the models can be built on different angles. The Full Lite Brix line is available at Toys R Us stores nationwide, Barnes and Noble and select other retailers.
Lite Brix also provided A Time Out for Mommy three Lite Brix Light Building Sets to donate to Toys for Tots this holiday season!
