Travel season is coming up and I’m looking forward to road trips with my family. We try to get away at least once every few months even if it’s just a weekend getaway, but over the summer we take frequent trips and like to explore new things. My husband is a teacher, so having him home for the summer is icing on the cake! The only thing that can sometimes be difficult while on vacation is finding food options we all enjoy. We reserve our fast food outings for occasions like this, and I’m excited to tell you about some new offerings from McDonald’s. Their french fries are a family favorite, but Signature Crafted Sandwiches piqued my interest. I was able to see all the information about each new sandwich by using the McDonald’s App.
Their new options include Pico Guacamole, Maple Bacon Dijon, and Sweet BBQ Bacon. Each sandwich is customizable with your choice of bread- brioche or a plain bun, and your choice of meat- either burger, grilled chicken, or crispy chicken. I just had to try the Pico Guacamole Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Now, this isn’t your typical McDonald’s fare. It came packaged like a Big Mac with the iconic box, but when I opened it up I was surprised to see a slice of lime on the side. I thought this was a cute touch and a great garnish for the flavors included in this sandwich. Now, I know what you’re thinking- can McDonald’s stand up to the test with these gourmet flavors?
I have to tell you, I was thoroughly impressed with both sandwiches. I really enjoyed the Pico Guacamole with grilled chicken and I didn’t have high hopes for fast-food grilled chicken. In the past it was rubbery and had an odd texture that was not palatable. This new grilled chicken was pretty good! My husband preferred the Sweet BBQ Bacon with grilled chicken over the Pico Guacamole, but that’s just preference.
Just recently McDonald’s made some big changes to keep up with what their customers want. Better tasting, real ingredients – 100% beef, and chicken not treated with certain antibiotics.* Their famous Chicken McNuggets have no artificial preservatives, and by 2025 they plan on using only 100% cage-free eggs in U.S. and Canada.
