There’s no doubt its cold in NY and it’s only going to get colder. We are ready to hang up our coats, take off our boots, skip the park and head to the big screen (in our living room, of course) for some family movie time. Disney has some awesome roundup of great family movies that everyone can enjoy, and don’t let the animations fool you- Disney always manages to throw in some adult humor for the older kids too!
Our lineup includes some new movies, as well as some favorite classics that I grew up with. Isn’t it amazing that as parents we were introduced to The Little Mermaid and now we can pass it down to our little ones? I love that about Disney. Everyone has their favorite and the classics are just that; Classic!
The Little Mermaid is a movie enjoyed by both my girls, ages 1 1/2 and 4. The unmistakeable red hair, amazing voice, and of course, the infamous lesson learned is a great way to kick off family movie weekend. Did you ever wonder what happened to Ariel’s mother, or better yet, what happened after Eric and Ariel got married? Well, there’s no need to wonder any more! Up next in our round up is one that Dad can enjoy too. Monsters University is the prequel to the Disney Pixar hit, Monsters Inc. I always wondered why they took so long to make another Monsters film, but I can definitely tell you it was well worth the wait. Monsters University is full of fun and laughs, and the humor that made Monsters Inc a great movie for all viewers. I personally love that monsters are shown as friends on TV as opposed to scary beings, because the last thing I want is my kids to be afraid of monsters. The next two movies on my queue were classified as “boy movies” by my 4 year old princess, but after she watched them we can say girls are welcome in this club too! Cars 3D transports you to a place where cars come to life. They each have personalities and the amazing animation brings out nothing short of what Pixar is known for: perfection. Do you have a child who loves planes? This holiday season bring the magic of Planes to your living room. With a similar theme as Cars, Planes is a crowd pleaser and will keep your little one wanting more. What I love most about all the Disney movies, and Planes included, is that there is always a lesson to be learned and something that everyone can take away from the movie. This creates a great opportunity for parents to discuss various themes presented in the films.
This holiday season, bring them all home! On cold and snowy days, there’s nothing like curling up with the family and a Disney film!

Cars is such a fun one to watch again and again, we love watching it in 3D on our TV even our teenager likes it!
Disney movies are so good. It would be nice to be curled up with a mug of hot chocolate, nice blanket, and a Disney classic.
