My mother tells me that I loved the taste of coffee from the time I was a toddler. It seems that my toddler has followed in my steps, because she begs me for coffee every day. My mistake. I left my cup on the window sill one day and she had a few sips. I don’t think a child should be drinking coffee, but I also like to pick and choose my battles with my toddler. A few weeks ago hubby got me a coconut mocha frappuccino from Starbucks and again, my toddler insisted that she try some. I let her have a sip and she told me it was ice cream – I guess I’m doing something terribly wrong if my coffee tastes like ice cream!
This gave me a great idea! I decided to let my toddler have a little chocolate milk as her “coffee” but I’m not big on corn syrups and all the other things that go into chocolate syrup. I made my own! I know it may seem like there is a lot of sugar in my recipe, but with syrup, she would have ended up drinking all sugar and then some! Also, I would rather give her sugar than coffee… for my own sanity.
Home Made Chocolate Milk Recipe:
1/4 tsp cocoa powder
3/4 tsp-1 tsp sugar (depends on how sweet you like it)
8 oz milk
separate 4 oz milk in a microwave safe cup
add sugar and cocoa
place in microwave for 30 seconds
stir mixture until cocoa and sugar have dissolved
add the remaining milk
I keep a Starbucks cup on hand just for these days so she feels like she is included on coffee mornings. Tantrums avoided!

This is cute!
Although with my oldest I think coffee would have been the safer bet lol. Caffeine calms her down oddly enough (although I only let her have tea so far).
