My little girl has gotten to an age where she has her own preferences, and our tastes don’t quite coincide. When I was pregnant with her, I decided to make her room a gender neutral color because I knew it wouldn’t be long before she started liking “girlie” colors. She has “The Cow Jumped Over the Moon” border with matching canvas pictures and wall decorations. I didn’t realize it would only take two years before she started demanding a change in her room. Just a few weeks ago she told me that we are going to take down all the stars and replace them with purple butterflies and flowers. Wow. Talk about being a little pushy! Well, the girl knows what she likes, and it is, after all, her own personal space. I started making changes in her room by taking down her taupe curtains and replacing them with a deep purple. During this transition she decided that she didn’t like purple anymore, and wanted everything to be pink. Well, she can’t ALWAYS have her way, so the purple stays. It also matches the theme of her room, which my hubby and I aren’t ready to take down just yet. So we have to work with what is already there.
My Wonderful Walls has an easy solution to redecorating a room. They offer wall stickers which are super easy to apply and very economical! I wish I had thought of wall decals when we were setting up the nursery for the first time. It would have been much easier to decorate and then REdecorate her room as her preferences change. After browsing their items, I knew for sure my little girl would love the Garden Tree theme and opted for the lavender color with the butterflies. It was exactly what she had asked for! I also fell in love with the First Flight Bird Wall sticker. There was something about this mural that warmed my heart and although I didn’t know where I was going to put it, the people over at My Wonderful Walls sent this mural to me along with the Garden Tree stickers.
When the wall murals arrived, we weren’t quite ready to put them up. It took us a few weeks to actually sit down and rearrange her room so that we can figure out how the new theme will tie in with her old theme. We didn’t want to “overdo” the room, so we had to take down a few things from her previous theme. The holes from the previous wall hangings were covered up nicely with some of the wall decals from My Wonderful Walls! The Garden Tree was the hardest item to place, since we didn’t want to place it over the existing border. We decided that the best place for it would be on her door, and instead of adding all the included flowers on the tree, we spread them out throughout the room. I instantly realized that wall decals are so much easier to work with than anything else in a nursery! If you are feeling brave, you can also try their wall stencils.
Check out her newly decorated room:

Isn't this so special??I love how the colors of the birds bring all the colors of the room together.

How beautiful is this tree? It was a little tricky to put up, but I slit the pieces in the crease of the door so that the tree looks seamless and doesn't interfere with opening and closing the door.

Each butterfly is covering a hole from the stars and moon wall hangings. The flowers originally came from the tree, but we wanted to spread them out throughout the room
So we were able to make her room a little more “girly” to accomodate my little girl’s taste without changing the entire room! The entire project took less than an hour, and the decals are easy to move if we rearrange the furniture. Don’t believe its so easy to apply wall stickers?
