Diaper Services may seem like a thing of the past. My grandmother always tells me about the cloth diaper service she had when my mom was a baby. Just recently I had the opportunity to try out their compostable diapers and wipes service. A box of compostable diapers was dropped off at my doorstep with a package of wipes and a compostable bag. The bag would contain all the used diapers and wipes which were to be picked up the following week. When I opened the box, I wasn’t too sure that the diapers would last me the whole week, but at the end of the week I still had half a box left. The amount of diapers you need really depends on your baby and how frequently you change them. When the diapers are picked up at the end of the week, they are taken to a composting facility where they will take some time to break down and be recycled into soil for green roofs, parks, and more! The process only takes a few months, and compostable diapers have the least environmental impact of all disposable diapers. The diapers that are used in this service are Broody Chick diapers which don’t contain petroleum based plastics or harmful chemicals that disposable diapers contain.
While I love to cloth diaper my toddler, the past few months have been a little difficult in cloth diapering. Poop issues have caused messy cleanup and disposables are being used more frequently than I would like.
