Do you or someone you know suffer from a disability and requires special equipment in order to drive? Families with members who have a disability can receive services from the National Mobility Equipment Dealer Association (NMEDA.) NMEDA is a non profit association with professionals who are dedicated to help those with disabilities in ways they never thought possible! They offer modified equipment for motor vehicles to improve options for those who need it.
It may be possible for someone with a disability to drive, but without having a a wheelchair accessible vehicle, the option to drive may not be useful. NMEDA makes it possible to make sure people with a handicap can not only drive, but also have a vehicle that is appropriate for their specific needs. NMEDA helps people remain mobile, which also promotes a better quality of life.
NMEDA also offers a Quality Assurance Program for dealers who are QAP accredited. The program was created to promote reliability within the industry, as well as set safety standards for all those involved. NMEDA is always looking for ways to improve mobility equipment in their industry in order to help people with disabilities.

What a great service! I have a friend with Spina Bifida and you would never know it, she is the most independent woman I know and has adjusted her vehicle so she can drive whenever and wherever she wants!
My husband uses a cane right now, he has MS. I hope we never have to use this, but it’s nice to know it’s there.
Fantastic service. My 5 year old daughter has a wheelchair. We don’t drive at the moment, but when we do this kind of thing would be invaluable to her.
My dad had a disability so he had a special steering mechanism built into his car to make the wheel suuuuuuuper easy to turn. Like with a finger easy! I’m not sure what/who he went through to get that done but it was free.
Interesting. I had never heard of that association before. I need to make sure my friend knows about it. (Her husbad is quadriplegic.)
