o.b. Share it Forward – help women in need at NO COST to you!

Last year as I started blogging (on a different blog) I decided to use my money saving skills and blogging outreach to helps others in need. I would scour the drugstore circulars each week in search of free or cheap personal items that I can accumulate to donate to a woman’s shelter. For the past year, I have been adding to the donation boxes in my basement, and I plan to drop them off right before the holidays. From toothpaste and razors to feminine products and non-perishable foods, I have accumulated many products on my own. I love the idea of having others included in my endeavor – and this is where you come in!

Right now, o.b. has a Share It Forward program on their Facebook fan page which helps raise money for Huru International simply by sharing a message with their network of friends about Huru International’s mission, and helping shed light on an issue that impacts many woman globally. Believe it or not, sanitary protection for millions of girls in developing countries is a LUXURY item. This was so hard for me to believe, because after sales and coupons, I can find quality feminine products for free or really cheap. As you can imagine, not having access to sanitary protection can be devastating to these girls. Since 2008, Huru International has developed a solution to this crisis. They came out with Huru Kits which provides girls with the information and resources they need to keep themselves safe. They even offer them sanitary protection. The Huru Kits are provided to at risk girls at no cost. Each kit is packaged in a drawstring back pack that includes:

Eight reusable sanitary pads
Three pairs of underwear
Detergent-grade soap to wash the sanitary pads
A re-sealable, waterproof bag to safely store used sanitary pads
Educational insert focused on proper Huru® pad care and usage, and
Life-saving HIV/AIDS prevention information

So after being enlightened about the issues that other females face in this world, you might wonder what you can do to help. It is so simple – if you have a Facebook page, you simple visit o.b. Share it Forward and click on the o.b. Outreach tab.

Step 2: Select your state from the drop down box (under the green box)

Step 3: Put a check mark next to the box that says you’ve read the Terms & Conditions

Step 4: Click the pink “Click to Share” button to post the message on your Wall

Step 5: Spread the word!

If you are already a fan of the page…

Step 1: Go to the o.b. Outreach Tab on the mighty.small.movement Facebook Page

Step 2: Select your state from the drop down box (under the green box)

The o.b. Brand hopes that o.b. users, and like-minded women, will help raise $25,000 for Huru International, which translates into 1,000 Huru® Kits (or 8,000 reusable sanitary pads), valued at $25 each. For every user who shares the message about HuruInternational’s mission with their network of friends, the o.b.® brand will donate $1 to Huru.

*The o.b.® Brand will make a minimum donation of $10,000 to Huru® International, and an additional $1 per consumer who shares the message about Huru®, up to $25,000. Donation not valid for consumers living in Alabama, Maine, Massachusetts, and South Carolina. Limited to one share per consumer.
