My niece is approaching “that” age where she is no longer a baby, but not quite a young adult. She is becoming more aware of her physical appearance and she has started experimenting with various hairstyles to change up her look. It is nice to know that there are products out there that are made especially for her skin and hair. Ottilie and Lulu came up with products for girls ages 7-14. While I don’t consider a child at the age of 7 a tween, I still believe it is important to use products that are suitable for their skin. Baby products just don’t cut it at that age and adult products are just too harsh for young skin. I also find products that are geared toward the older generation to be heavily perfumed, while products geared towards teens are full of glitter and chemicals. Yuck. I don’t want my niece to be exposed to these products.
Her birthday is coming up and I thought it would be nice to treat her to the product line by Ottilie and Lulu. The first thing I noticed from their site is that the girls pictured are children – not overly done tweens that are made to look like they are in their twenties. I think this is something that is so damaging to our youth, especially after spending a few years teaching middle schoolers. They are bombarded with images of people that they think they SHOULD look like, while never really enjoying the time they have in their young teen years.
Did you know that about 80% of skin damage happens before a child is 17? It is important to take care and nourish young skin. The product line from Ottilie and Lulu is created from gentle and effective ingredients that include anti-oxidants, botanicals, and vitamins. All products are dermatologist, allergy, and clinically tested (and never tested on animals.)
I had the opportunity to review the Clean Face Wipes and the Shiny Hair Detangler and Conditioner. Both products claim to have a scent, but I found the wipes to be scent free, while the conditioner had a very light lavender mint scent. Not overpowering AT ALL! The wipes are made from gentle ingredients which can be used twice daily to refresh skin. The conditioner came in handy after long pool days where chlorine and sun had made my nieces hair very rough.
While I cannot vouch for the rest of the products in the Ottilie and Lulu product line, I am already impressed by the quality of the items that I did review. My niece loves that there is a product line just for her, and is already asking for more products to add to her routine.
