I’ve saved most of the toddler toys my girls used when they were younger knowing I would have another baby. When I passed down my oldest’s toys to my second born, there were no issues of jealousy and possessiveness from my oldest. Now with baby #3, my middle daughter has become quite possessive over her baby toys and won’t let her brother play with them. So, I find myself looking into inexpensive toys for little boys. I love wooden toddler toys because they remind me of the toys I had growing up.
Manhattan Toy Company has some new items that are cute and perfect for my little guy. When I was pregnant with him I envisioned his grey room adorned with baby blue and white elephants. I never got too far, a simple white elephant blowing bubbles is all the decor I managed to put up, but the Roly Bop elephant ($25) has made its way into the nursery and fits in perfectly. The inflatable belly of Roly Bop makes him bounce back and forth as baby interacts. The gentle rattle chimes make Roly Bop appealing to curious minds.
Wooden blocks are a favorite of mine, reminding me of my younger days of building. We do have the common square blocks, but the Tree House Stack Up ($28) is a little out of the ordinary with various shapes, sizes, and colors. You can arrange them to whatever configuration suits you, and watch as they come tumble down so you can try again. My little guy hasn’t gotten to the stacking part yet, but he does love destroying things!
The Playful Dino ($68) is much like the Tree Top Adventure we reviewed in the past, only its compact, making it perfect for smaller spaces. I love the dinosaur shape, and the baby loves the loving pieces. There’s so much to explore on the Playful Dino, and it keeps kids engaged without music and bright lights. Just good old fashioned wood and pleasing designs.
