They say imitation is the best form of flattery and possibly the best gift for Mother’s Day. My preschooler loves pretending she’s a mommy and taking care of a baby. Sometimes I catch her chatting with her baby dolls the same way her and I interact, and it completely melts my heart. Despite the rough times and bad days, I feel that I’m doing SOMETHING right when she aspires to be a mommy like me.
My preschooler isn’t your typical “girlie-girl.” She loves getting dirty and superheroes. She’s your rough and tumble kid, but catches you by surprise when she sees a baby doll. Her motto would be- “A girl can never have too many dolls” and my daughter can tell you what makes each of her dolls unique. There’s the doll with the pearls, the one that blows kisses, another that takes a pacifiers, and depending on her mood, she will choose one to bring along. I made the mistake of trying to pass them down to one of our friends since we had so many, but my daughter sat and explained what made each one special and why she needed ALL of them. The latest doll in our lineup is the Little Sister Babblebaby from Madame Alexander. She calls her new baby “Lucy,” and Lucy comes everywhere with us. Lucy is a game changer when it comes to dolls because she actually responds back! She has advanced response technology that knows when you are talking to her and talks back a few seconds after you stop. My daughter loves that Lucy sounds just like her baby brother with real-sounding baby babble. You can hear the sounds Lucy makes when you visit the Madame Alexander website.
Little Sister Babblebaby retails at $44.95 and can be purchased directly from Madame Alexander, Amazon, and other toy retailers.
