We all know our lives can change in an instant, but after watching Labor Day I am even more convinced of that fact. In case you haven’t seen the movie, you might want to turn away because I will be talking about it and how amazing it was. Due to unfortunate circumstances, Frank (Josh Brolin) finds himself running from police. Henry (Gattlin Griffith) and his mom Adele (Kate Winslet) run into Frank and he asks them to help him out. Reluctantly, they bring him into their home, give him a place to rest, get cleaned up, and eat. In the span of 5 days we see how these strangers transform each others’ lives. I won’t give away too much, but I can tell you this much- this movie will make you believe that what you see or hear isn’t always the truth and things are not always what they seem.
This Mother’s Day, consider giving mom a romantic movie and/or the novel, Labor Day. This is a movie about love, passion, helping others, and learning new things. I received an amazing viewing kit which includes a pie dish and ingredients for a Peach Pie, which you might wonder how it ties in with the movie- believe me- it does. It’s this famous Peach Pie that brings love together, TWICE in the movie. This Mother’s Day I will be whipping up a Peach Pie with my kit, along with my girls and serving it to the other important mom’s in our lives- both my girls’ grandmothers.
