Both of my little girls started off as great eaters. They love their veggies and fruits, I always incorporate whole grains in their diets, but when it comes to meat I have to get creative. The only way I can get meat into these girls is by sneaking it into their quesidillas. Oh, and speaking of quesidillas, my oldest daughter always asks for hers with no cheese, so we have to sneak that in there as well. I tell her it’s part of the tortilla, or the glue that holds it all together. Yeah – my kid will eat glue over cheese any day, go figure!
My youngest gives me a harder time with foods. Some days she loves everything and will try new things, other days I will have to call in a cleaning crew to clean the kitchen after a feeding battle with her. It can be frustrating, but we’ve had some fun feeding moments with both my girls. My oldest wakes up in the morning and asks for broccoli for breakfast. My youngest can sometimes be seen with a bowl of beans right after her morning yogurt. I am happy that I can get healthy things into them, but it’s totally on their terms, and I take advantage of their appetites when they want to eat. I try not to discourage them when they ask for healthy options, no matter how odd their requests may be.
When my girls just feel like snacking throughout the day, I like to offer them organic fruits and veggies along with Happy Family snacks. My youngest daughter loves the yogurt snacks and my older daughter loves the Sunny Buddies snacks with sun butter. We discovered these when she attended a nut-free school this past year. It was also the time where she discovered peanut butter and almond butter and requested it everyday. I was happy these little treats could satisfy her salty/sweet craving and was allowed in the school too! You can check out their store locator to see where Happy Family is sold near you!
