I rarely go shopping without a list. I’ve learned from my mistakes of forgetting to purchase what I set out for in the first place or spending way too much on items that I didn’t really need. My hubby use to make fun of me when I would sit down in from of the computer and make a list before shopping, but those days are over! He understands the importance of being organized and shopping the sales!
I find myself at Duane Reade A LOT! There are 3 Duane Reade stores within a 4 block radius, so it makes it easy for me to pick up what I need, no matter which direction I’m headed. I checked out this week’s Happy and Healthy magazine to see what their latest sales were, and I was very happy to see Ology products buy one get one 50% off! I purchase Ology Baby Wash a few weeks ago and have been very satisfied with the product. Before Ology, I spent a little bit more on shampoo and body wash for my girls because I’m not a fan of chemicals on or near them. I love that the Ology brand is easy to find, inexpensive as compared to other brands, and works great! Wait, I lied – I can’t say that Ology has been easy to find at one of the stores near me. I’ve been on the hunt to try their adult shampoo and conditioner and have had no luck, so on this shopping trip I decided to head to a different store. I’m thinking there is one person (who is probably just like me) in the neighborhood that waits for the Ology truck to drop off the weekly supply of shampoo and conditioner, and buys it all. I’m on a mission this week – I WILL get my hands on that shampoo and conditioner. I cannot use my husband’s shampoo one more week – my hair is begging for a change!
So, before I headed out, I made my list:
Ology Shampoo
Ology Conditioner
Ology Body wash (2)
delish probiotic snacks (2)
In the circular I also noticed that there was an advice column in the baby section, which I thought was pretty neat! They have helpful hints and information about babies – which I can always appreciate as a mama of two. There is a new brand of baby products that Duane Reade is stocking, Well Beginnings, and I will be sure to check them out soon. Also, the ibuprofen is on sale for Buy One Get One 50% off – I would typically stock up on children’s pain reliever/fever reducer because I would much rather have it on hand than to head out while one of the kids are sick, but I have plenty left from their last virus so I will skip the sale this time. I love that I don’t have to worry about “missing” a sale, because Duane Reade always has great deals on everyday products.
The 24 hour Duane Reade has a nice sized grocery store, which not all locations have. I was able to find organic frozen veggies that I often purchase for my family, as well as necessities, such as milk and juice. This happens to be a busier store, but I had to stick with my list and get in and out of the store before I got side tracked and ended up on a line that wraps around the front of the store!
I was so happy that I finally found my Ology Shampoo and Conditioner (which I later found out worked FANTASTIC!!) as well as the rest of the items on my list. I headed home to try out all my new goodies! My preschooler snatched up the yogurt covered pretzels while I strategically hid the divine little morsels of chocolate covered espresso beans (OMG these are yum yum yum) found inside the other bag of delish goodies.
