Every year there is a new trend that sweeps through our media outlets and sucks in kids as well as their parents (just think back to the rainbow loom days!) The latest trend is Shopkins, which we were introduced to from YouTube. My oldest daughter loves spending her downtime learning about new Shopkins and watching people unwrap their new Shopkins to see what the package reveals. There are hundreds to collect, varying in levels of rarity.
When we were asked to host a Shopkins party, my daughter quickly responded before me, “ABSOLUTELY!” When we invited a few friends over to play with our new Shopkins toy sets, I initially thought we would be introducing them to something new. Apparently, the kids all knew what Shopkins were and they got to educate their parents about these fun collectibles. As our guests trickled in, they made comments like, “You got Shopkins!” “I’ve been asking my mom for these!”
Now, before you think you’ve been missing something, let me tell you that Shopkins have just been released. I’m still wondering how the kids knew about them, but this is only their first season which was launched early summer. Shopkins are available at Toys R Us, Target, and Amazon.
Our party was successful. With the holidays just around the corner, Shopkins is something that is sure to take over our commercials and be at the top of kid’s wish lists. The kids had a great time checking off which Shopkin they had off their checklist and seeing how rare or common their package was. They also played games like Shopkin sorting, looking for doubles, and figuring out what each Shopkin’s purpose was.
You can find out more about Shopkins by visiting Shopkins World. You can even keep track of the Shopkins you already own and which you are searching for with their online checklist. There are 148 Shopkins to collect, so start your collection soon!
These Shopkins are so cute, and my niece is having a birthday soon and this would be a great present for her. She would love to get these and play with them.
Cute little things they are. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve never heard of these before, but I ‘m sure that my daughter would love them.
Ah, another fad for parents to spend money on and to step on the little pieces. (ouch)
I think my niece would love these. And they are definitely small!
