Living in NYC during the holidays is unlike anything else. The smells from the pretzels carts tied in with the chilly weather and amazing seasonal decor is sure to put anyone in the holiday spirit. Last weekend I headed over to Lord & Taylor to show my daughter the beautiful holiday window display. Just a few blocks away we found ourselves in front of RadioShack on 42nd Street and decided to do some holiday shopping for the hubby with the gift card I received from them.
I know my husband is in the market for a new iPhone 5, but I wasn’t ready to dive into getting a new phone and dealing with setup right then and there, so I decided I would get him a starter package which I will put together myself and then he can go and pick up the phone himself and activate it when he’s ready.
In the starter package I am putting a travel charger, iPhone 5 case, and screen protectors for his new device. I was impressed with how well stocked Radio Shack was. The walls were very organized with large labels which indicated which accessories belonged to which device. The layout of the store was a sign of the times we are living in- the front of the store started off with an island of technology, the walls were lined with accessories for that technology, and in the very back of the store was wiring and tools for the Do it Youself-er.
Before I even walked into the store I checked out Radio Shack online which seemed to a lot of the new titles in video gaming but once I hit the store I found out they were available online only. If you know me then you know I’m totally not opposed to shopping online, especially at a store like Radio Shack which offers free shipping on orders over $50 and a limited time offer of $10 RadioShack gift card for every $50 you spend. I just expected to find everything in store as well.
The store clerk was very helpful and professional. I overheard him giving advice to an older man about his choice of android over iOS, and when he was done he kindly asked each customer who was browsing the store if they needed help. This gave the store a real mom-pop feel and one of the reasons I love visiting Radio Shack when I’m looking for the latest brands in technology.
This holiday season, skip the lines at the big stores and head over to RadioShack. They have lots to offer holiday shoppers this year with over 2,000 updated stores (that’s almost HALF their stores in the nation!) You can also visit the Radio Shack online Holiday Hub for their latest deals on the hottest trends in technology this season!
I have a Radio Shack nearby that I’ve not visited since they’ve updated and improved their store. I can’t wait to stop in and see what’s new.
