My girls have always been into Disney, but it wasn’t until after they visited Disney World this past Christmas that they really felt the magic of all Disney had to offer. You can say we are a Disney Family because our birthday parties center around a Disney theme, and our playdates generally involve a Disney flick in the background while the children do a craft.
When we were asked to host a #DisneySide party, my oldest daughter was just as ecstatic as I was. We threw a few ideas around, but with the constant NYC snow this past winter, and many viruses being passed around, our party was delayed quite a bit. One evening when we invited our friends and family over for a screening of Frozen, we decided it would be a great time to host an impromptu DisneySide party. I figured if we planned it in advance, there were too many instanced that could be against us.
We used some great items that we received in our DisneySide party pack, and even added a few of our own. For crafts, we decided to make gingerbread houses. I scored a great after-holiday deal on these sets and knew the kids would have a great time setting them up, plus I thought it went along with the Frozen theme we were already in. The girls all picked out an outfit to wear from our extensive Disney princess collection. and got to making some houses:
Our new Wii U came in handy for some extra special Disney fun with Disney Infinity. The children each got a turn playing in the Toy Box of Disney Infinity with their favorite character. It was fun watching the kids act out their character. What impressed me the most was their ability to take turns and show patience – they were having such a good time, they knew they would miss out if they showed any tantrums. This was a great thing!
All in all our DisneySide party was a blast! In a few weeks we will be throwing a Minnie Mouse 2nd Birthday celebration for my youngest daughter. I will be featuring some fun Minnie Mouse themed DIY invitations, decor, and desserts showing our DisneySide! Stay tuned for more #DisneySide!
I think the impromptu parties can be just as much fun as the planned ones. I love the gingerbread houses with the Frozen theme. So cute.
I love that little minnie couch you have!!
The gingerbread houses look so good! Can’t wait to see pictures of the Minnie Mouse themed party!
How fun and so cute! Love how they dressed up in their princess dresses.
Awww so stinking cute! I love dress up princess parties.
Princess parties are so much fun.
We’re a Disney family too despite the fact that we don’t even have any littles around the house anymore! Almost all of our vacations in the past 20 years have involved Disney World, Disneyland or the Disney Cruise ships!!
We love our Disney Infinity. I hope they come out with a Merida character soon!
That was a fun idea. My kids enjoy making gingerbread houses too.
Frozen is the perfect movie for a Disney party. 🙂 I recently watched it with my teens and we absolutely loved it.
How cute! I love Disney! The only thing that is more exciting than showing your Disney side at home is showing it at Disney Parks! 🙂
What a fun craft!
