When I first started cloth diapering my toddler, I knew that one size diaper would be best for us. At the thought of having another baby who I plan to cloth diaper from the beginning, I started to wonder if a one size diaper would really fit an 8 pound baby comfortably. It just seems that there would be too much bulky from the folding and all the extra material. At the same time – I wonder if newborn cloth diapers are really worth the investment. You need quite a few diapers for newborns since you are changing them more often, plus they only use them for a few weeks or months – and then what??
When I was presented with the opportunity to review a Softbums Echo diaper, I was skeptical about it fitting a toddler and a newborn – even after reading awesome reviews from other people who swore by these diapers for their earliest diapering days. Once I received the diaper, I was able to see what made this diaper unique. For those of you that use pocket diapers and know what I am talking about, there is a drawstring inside the pocket. When you pull the drawstring, the leg elastic gets tighter, creating a more snug fit around skinny legs. As your baby grows, you can release the drawstring to accommodate your growing baby. I have never seen a diaper quite like this, and I am happy to say this is one of the most effective one size cloth diapers out there, fitting babies from 6-35 pounds!
Aside from being a true one size diaper that can really take your child from birth to potty training, I love that there is a variety of soaker options depending on how heavy your baby wets their diaper. Whether you like pocket diapers or a shell/soaker system, you can choose how to use the Softbums Echo diaper. You can tuck in the soaker pad and wash the entire diaper at each change, or you can keep using the shell and just change the soaker pad at each change. I LOVE OPTIONS!
