Disclosure: A Time Out for Mommy has received samples in exchange for a review. All opinions and experiences are my own.
I remember from the time I was a child, my mom would complain that the tv was too loud when I watched it. Fast forward decades later and my husband will often tell me the tv is too loud. “What!? I can’t hear them speak!” I always reply to him. I started watching the tv with captions on in order to have it lower and still understand what they are saying. It wasn’t until we purchased our first home and upgraded our tv when we realized the new tv had speakers pointed toward the back, against the wall. A quick google search had similar users stating they remedied the sound issue with a soundbar.
Soundbars help amplify the sound of the tv in a compact speaker that can either be placed under the tv or behind your sitting area. This helps the sound project better, allowing you to hear your shows without actually having to make the sound louder. Another purpose of the soundbar is to create a surround sound experience you would get in the theaters. We discovered iLive Soundbars and decided to give them a try. The hope was to to see if the iLive soundbar would keep the sound localized to the living room while amplifying it without having to make the tv louder. Have you ever had a movie night with your kids where the tv automatically sounds 10 times louder when the music or action parts come on? We have this issue frequently and also hoped the sound bar would help keep the volume more level during movie nights.
Installing the soundbar was a breeze. The iLive is connected with the included optical wire to the television. Once the tv is on, I simply change the sound input on the tv settings, and Voila! There’s an extra sound source for our tv! While it serves the purpose for the television and helps point the sound outward toward the audience as opposed to the wall behind the tv, I love that I can use the soundbar as a standalone speaker connected through Bluetooth on my phone. The multi-use features make the 32″ HD Sound Bar from iLive a bargain at just $79.99!
Along with the 32″ iLive soundbar, we also tried out a smaller 29″ HD SoundBar by iLive for our playroom, which is also a long room that can use some help with projecting sound. Aside from the size, I don’t notice any difference between the 32″ or 29″ HD soundbars by iLive. The 29″ soundbar is half the price of the 32″, retailing at just 39.99.
