With all the summer barbecues lined up and all our guests with their ever-growing families, finding a place to sit can sometimes be a problem. In the past 5 years, my hubby and I have had to add at least 2 seats a year to our outdoor collection because it seems we never have enough outdoor chairs. I joked with my husband that soon we are going to have a BYOC policy- bring your own chair!
The kids are usually playing and don’t generally sit with their parents when we are barbecuing, but when it is time to sit down and eat, the kids need their own table. The age range of the kids in the family is 0-5, with the 2 and up children able to feed themselves. This last barbecue we had, we were able to fit 4 kids on our new children’s table set- a Thomas the Tank Patio Set. The kids were thrilled that they had their own area with a familiar character, plus, they were able to actually reach the table. The table assembled very easy, and the chairs simply unfolded. The set comes with two chairs, but we had a few chairs from an indoor table set, so we were able to use those. I wish the table came with more chairs just so all the kids had the same chairs and didn’t argue over who was going to sit where, but for a family with two children, this is perfect. The umbrella adds a nice touch to keep kids in the shade. In the winter, when all the outdoor furniture is brought inside, this will be our craft table in the basement. The top cleans very easy and you don’t have to worry about the tabletop getting scratched.
Overall I think this is a great set retailing for only $35, and it is currently available at Walmart and Toys R Us.
