Can you believe Teletubbies debuted 20 years ago!? I remember watching it with my friend’s little brother, and then when my first daughter first got into Teletubbies. It seems there were one of those shows that kids loved throughout the years, and now Teletubbies has been reintroduced and “reimagined.” When we turned on the Teletubbies DVD which features episodes from their first new season, my oldest daughter became very nostalgic. I was surprised she remembered “the baby in the sun” and the character’s names. Her favorite Teletubby is Poe, the red one, and she fondly remembers their bellies becoming screens where they would take you to the next story line.
Almost instantly my little guy became hooked on Teletubbies too. He received two plush Teletubbies dolls and two talking Teletubbies that speak when you squeeze their bellies and immediately started playing with them and examining the different shapes on top of each of their heads. When he sat to watch the Teletubbies DVD, he was instantly intrigued by the characters and music. At 1 1/2 years old, he’s at the perfect age for Teletubbies mainly because they keep it simple and have some repetition throughout each episode. The newer episodes of Teletubbies feature touchscreen bellies and the Tubby Phone smartphone.
Finding a show that all my kids will watch at the same time is generally a challenge because of their various ages. While Teletubbies is geared toward younger viewers, my older girls at 4 and 7 love watching it too. It’s wholesome entertainment for their little minds!
