There’s nothing like a good old fashioned BBQ with friends and family. Living in a concrete jungle for the first few years of our marriage has made my husband and I grateful to finally have a backyard and a place to host outdoor gatherings. Watching the kids play while indulging- or overindulging in all the delicious flavors that come along with these outdoor events makes every second worth it. The part I don’t like so much- the heartburn that comes along with eating things my stomach doesn’t agree with.
Over 10 years ago I was prescribed Nexium by my doctor to treat my severe acid reflux. Not only did I have burning associated with certain foods, but the irritation had crawled up to my esophagus and irritated my throat. A cough that I chalked up to a cold or allergies was actually a symptom of acid reflux. Nexium was a prescription at that time, but after one course of treatment I felt relief which lasted for years.
As symptoms start to act up again and acid reflux shows her head, I love that I can get the same prescription Nexium over the counter as Nexium 24HR. I’m not talking about treating a one-time indigestion attack. I’m talking about the lingering stomach burning, aching, and irritation that comes on at every meal and needs to be treated with a longer course than a simple antacid can treat. Nexium 24HR is to be taken once a day for no more than fourteen days and can be restarted after four months. Nexium 24HR is used to treat frequent heartburn only. It does not cure acid reflux, GERD or any other diseases.
I’m not a doctor so I can’t dispense medical advice, but if you are suffering from heartburn symptoms, be sure to speak with your doctor. Severe heart burn has a lot to do with how your stomach works, but also affects other organs and body functions (like your esophagus.) Don’t let heartburn keep you from enjoying those weekend barbecues with loved ones. Nexium 24HR is available over the counter at most drugstores. Be sure to check out Nexium 24HR on Facebook for more information and to see what others are saying.
