Nutrisystem’s first week starts off a bit different. The Fast 5 program is designed to get your system ready for a long term change in eating habits by keeping your calories at around 1000 a day. The goal is to lose five pounds during that first week. I was worried during the start of the week that I wouldn’t be able to handle such a drastic change in eating but I found two things that helped me accomplish it. The first thing is to follow the plan exactly. The meal plan is set up in a way that you are eating small meals all day long, so you are not hungry at any given point during the day. Another key thing is to also drink at least eight glasses of water per day. Doing this helped me tremendously. The second part is commitment and desire to lose weight. You need to want to lose the weight, so any moment of weakness can be pushed aside, which will occur for anyone who is changing their eating habits. By the end of the week, I felt great. Not sure how much of it was mental, but I had a jump in my step and I felt less sluggish than I usually do.
Weigh in at the end of Week 1: 248 lbs. I amazingly lost 10 pounds in the first week! My reaction was a mix of surprise and pride, which helped motivate me even more for week 2.
