We’ve gotten quite comfortable traveling by car with our three kids 7 and under. We always make it a point to be in a family friendly area that offers late access to drug stores if someone gets sick, a variety of meal options for our pickiest eaters, and stores where we can pick up our last minute essentials. We have it down to a science at this point, but when it comes to traveling by plane a lot more thought has to be put into it. Do we need a double or single stroller? How many carry on bags can each child take? Do we need to rent a car? What about car seats?
When that last question came up, my husband immediately answered that traveling by plane just isn’t for our family right now. All kids are in car seats and to take three car seats with us will be more of a headache than what it’s worth. When we asked a friend what she used for car seats on her family’s recent trip to Europe, she matter of factly said “Bubblebums!” I immediately knew what she was referring to because I had seen Bubblebum car seats advertised, but I didn’t know enough about booster seats at the time and my girls weren’t up to that’s stage yet. Although my middle daughter is still in a 5 point harness, she fits the height and weight requirements for a booster seat, so if we were really in a bind, a booster seat would be a safe option for her.
Let me tell you a little more about Bubblebums and why they are a great option for traveling with kids in car seats. The Bubblebum is an inflatable booster seat that can raise your child’s seated height in the car to a safer level in the event of an impact. Regardless of what your booster seat is made out of, it’s primary purpose is to make a child’s seated height higher. That’s it! Bubblebum seats are easily inflated by mouth with a valve that twists to allow air in and out, and seals to keep air in. When the seat is not in use it easily folds away to be stored for later use.
While our initial thinking was to use Bubblebum for traveling by plane so my girls would have a car seat when we reached our destination, I have to admit that our Bubblebums have come in handy quite a bit during this school season. We carpool some days and it’s easy to simply inflate a Bubblebum when we bring someone else’s child home from school, and my kids can carry their Bubblebums with them when they are in a friend’s car. Everyone is seated safely and there is no bulky seat lugged around.
Whether you need a quick and light car seat for travel or you like to have an extra seat in the trunk for a friend, Bubblebum is a great option! You can find out more by visiting their site.
