Did you ever wonder what you would do with $1 million? Living in NYC, I can tell you that a million dollars will not get you far around here, especially if you are buying real estate. Houses and even small apartments in prime NYC run anywhere from $500,000 and up, topping at over millions of dollars. It’s crazy, and this is the state we live in, but we are so rooted I can’t see us leaving, ever.
Aside from purchasing a home to call our own, I’ve often thought of what we might do with a million dollars. It’s a lot of cash which can go a long way if you plan properly. On my list of things I would do with a million dollars are: set up nice sized accounts for my children’s college funds, take a REAL time out for mommy – spa, vacation, night out in the city, you get the picture… and I would plan for my retirement. I know I know, it sounds BORING, but opportunities like this don’t come often, so plan wisely!
So, what would YOU do with a million dollars? Remember those commercials for Publisher’s Clearinghouse? They were usually on when I was home sick from school. I would watch people get surprised with a fat check and a bunch of balloons. Their lives would be changed by the people who showed up with a million dollars and I always imagined that would be me one day. But it wasn’t – because I never entered to win! Sure, I was too young at that time, but I have no excuses now! How can anyone expect to win something if they don’t enter?!? So, here’s what I’m telling you: If you want to win $1 Million plus $5,000 every week for life, GO ENTER! You have nothing to lose, and only the chance of a lifetime to gain!
I AM UNEMPOLYED MOM LOOKING JOB SO HAD LIKE A DINSOUR HUBBY SICK PAY OFF ALL OUTSTANDING MONEYS OWED JUST BE HAPPY TAKE KIDS TO LEGO
There are so many things I would do….:)
I would be debt free!
Money put away for my son’s college and retirement for my hubby and I, a nice donation to a couple of programs/organizations that mean a lot to me, and a little having fun, going a little crazy, traveling money. π
What I would do! Holy moly, a LOT, I have a list π
My husband has it all mapped out but if the net was 1M I would definitely buy a house and cars so they were paid off makes for less money needed to live each month.
be god send
We would definitely pay off our mortgage.
I have no idea what I’d do- buy a slightly nicer house & invest the rest, I think.
I would pay off my student loans and move to a better home!
I would not have a house payment if I won. π
WOW HELP AT A VERY LOW TIME IN OUR LIFE BE A BLESSING FROM GOD!!!
Houses aren’t quite as expensive here and you can get a really NICE one for 300,000. I would buy a new home and then invest the rest of it!
I always wondered if this was legit π
I’d travel the world with my family.
Pay off all my debts, call Dave Ramsey and yell I’M DEBT FREE then buy a beach house.
I’d buy an old but quaint Victorian home, pay off medical bills, share the wealth with family, and give the rest to those who are in need.
I would send my kids to a good collage and I will take the rest of the money and save it for their future.
I meant college not collage, sorry!
I’d pay off my student loans, the rest of our debt and by a house.
I’d buy our own land.
This post has me singing that song…
Pay off bills and travel.
I would just pay off debt and site aside funds for the kids college… the rest, we’d find a way to use it for good in our community and world.
I would pay of debt, start a college fund and go on vacation.
Pay off the house, debt, and go on a wonderful vacation.
Pay off all our debt, out home, put some away for the kids and get new vehicles
I would pay off the rest of my student loans, purchase a new house and car, and I would like to think I would give a lot of it to those less fortunate.
Move out of the city
The question is what wouldn’t I do with a million dollars!
I wonder that question all of the time. I keep waiting to win.
I’m way too practical because I’d pay off my kids’ student loans, set them up big old funds for security and then set myself up an investment account. I probably wouldn’t spend a thin dime of it initially. I worked too hard to get out of debt that I’ve become pretty darn frugal!
That would be way too awesome to win! We’d probably use it to pay off bills and live off of for a while. With that kind of money, we wouldn’t mind moving somewhere super cheap and not having to worry about bills/work/etc. but just enjoy each other π
I entered and I’ve been getting emails from them every single day . Makes me nuts and they even send sales mail here to . Sometimes I wonder if those winners are real cause I never knew anyone who ever won or knew anyone who ever knew someone who won
I would pay off our house and then open a restaurant!
Well, pay half of it in taxes so…
What would I do with $500K? Pay off our little house, rent it out, but a much larger home, and save the rest for retirement and taking care of aging parents. I’m boring. π
Pay off the house, car, student loans, put money into retirement and give each kid money for college.
I remember seeing the commercials back in the day too. They need to bring those bring with the people holding the big ole checks.
I would pay off my bills and remodel my house. I would also put a big chunk aside to college and retirement π
I’d like to say that I would travel but most likely I would do something more practical with the money.
We would set up college funds for our kids … and probably pay off our house so we could be debt free!!!
Pay off debt and then do something good to bless others. It’s all about giving in our household.
Tithe, pay off our house, hubbys student loans, the small amount of debt we owe, put some away for the kids and us, get new cars
Pay of all my bills and my mothers, donate a lot..oh so many things!
I’d pay off student loans, buy a modest house with a few acres, and a new minivan.
