I don’t know what I was thinking. I guess as a mom you tend to be sleep deprived during the first decade year of your baby’s life and you have moments where you just aren’t thinking. I left a glass jar of Earth’s Best butternut squash on my baby’s high chair when she was about 6 months old. I looked away for a second to answer my husband’s question and the next thing I know, there is butternut squash all over the floor, and about a thousand pieces of glass to pick up. My husband gave me the “know it all” look and asked, “what did you think she was going to do with that?” I really didn’t need any comments from the peanut gallery. All I knew was that I still had to feed my baby and make sure the kitchen was cleaned from all the tiny pieces of dangerous glass.. and let’s not forget all that squash splattered everywhere.
Could this have been prevented? Yes – if I was paying attention to what I was doing. These things happen, and maybe not in the ways that you think. Did you ever have a glass food jar in your diaper bag that cracked? This didn’t happen to me, but it did happen to a friend. All her extra clothes, blankets, and diapers were ruined. Another mommy moment that could have been prevented!
Siliskins makes travel and “mommy moments” safer with their revolutionary silicone skins that fit snugly over glass food jars. Siliskins create a shock absorbent layer around your glass items to prevent breakage, and if the impact is so strong that even the Siliskin cannot prevent it, then all the pieces of the broken glass are contained within the Siliskin, making cleanup much easier! Siliskins are BPA free, dishwasher safe, extreme temperature resistant and can be placed in the microwave (on the jar) and in the freezer.
You can connect with Siliskins on their Blog, Facebook and Twitter, and also connect with Earth’s Best on Facebook and the Earth’s Best website!
