It’s been a crazy week. Everything seems to have hit at the same time and it has been very overwhelming. I find myself on the verge of crawling into a ball under the covers at the same time I know I just have to push through, check things off my list, and move forward. I use to look forward to the weekend when I knew we didn’t have a schedule, but with so much going on in my personal life, this isn’t the case at all. Everyday is met with a list of things that need to get done, a place I need to be, or people I need to meet up with. I guess you can say I even grew up a little this week, as I entered into the “quite overwhelmed” mindset but knew nothing would get done if I laid on the floor and threw a tantrum. I really, really wanted to do that.
My husband offered to send me for a massage amidst everything going on. He knew that when I get stressed out, I tend to neglect myself by skipping meals to get things done, not staying hydrated, and not being able to sleep because I can’t relax. All these factors lead to severe nerve pains in my neck and shoulder, and ultimately end up into a throbbing headache or migraine. It’s not fun, but as I’ve learned- this too shall pass.
Last year we were introduced to a unique spa experience at Massage Envy. They understand that everyone needs a special time to unwind, relax, and take care of themselves. The term “put your own oxygen mask on first” rings in my head everyday as I give my closest friends advice when it comes to parenting. It’s so true, but hard to follow when you know there is so much that needs to be done. Massage Envy makes it easy to carve time into your already hectic schedule where you can pop in for an hour, to rejuvenate with a massage or facial and for an entire 60 minutes (or more if you have it!) forget about the world outside of the spa door. Nothing else exists – just you and the skilled person providing your body the relief and de-stressor it needed.
After my husband sent me for my first-ever massage a decade ago, I truly started believing that massages were less about someone rubbing your back and more about healing when done routinely.
