How are you celebrating your child’s first flush? My nephew is still having difficulties, so we have stopped potty training for a few weeks, hoping that after his First Flush party, he will be more motivated to potty train. My sister in law is hoping to have him potty trained before the new baby comes this spring, so check back for an update! We will be hosting a Pull Ups First Flush party for him and his friends soon.
When it comes to potty training, my advice is simple: Don’t stress. Children have huge receptors for detecting stress in their parents, and this is not conducive to potty training. When I first started training my daughter at 18 months, she was not ready. Although she was already saying many words, she was afraid of the potty. I backed off for a few months, and reintroduced potty training again. She handled it much better, and this time I made it all about her. I took her to the store to pick out a potty seat that SHE liked, and even had her pick up big girl panties. She loved the whole process, and within days she was potty trained. We weren’t able to use her big girl underwear until months later, so we used Pull Ups until she was clear of accidents for a while.
Do you have words of advice when it comes to potty training?
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Pull-Ups. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to host a party. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating

I agree with you on not being stressed out. That makes the whole experience miserable for everybody.
Penelope (NYC Blogger) says
How cool would that be?
Jennifer says
stressing out if probably one of the worst things to do. It’s so hard but so important that we keep our cool during this time.
Wish I was in NY for this celebration though. It sounds like it’s going to be a blast!
Jenn @therebelchick says
My best advice is DON’T RUSH IT!

What a great opportunity. We still use Night Time Pull-ups but we are luckily out of the potty training stage.
Courtney says
Darn we are still in regular diapers

After potty training three children my number one tip for other moms is to remember that every child trains at their own pace. Just because a friends child may be totally day and night trained by 3, doesn’t mean your child should or will be!
Lolo says
You know when your kid is ready. Do not rush it!

What a neat opportunity.
