After my hubby and I have guests over, we always clean up immediately because we don’t like to deal with the mess in the morning. There is nothing worse than waking up to a sink full of dishes and a dining room full of food that should have gotten thrown out the night before. Let’s not even mention the smell from leftover food and dirty dishes. I feel that when I wake up in the morning to a clean house, I feel more motivated to start my day then when I have a house to clean.
It isn’t uncommon for dishes to pile up in my home – we don’t have a dishwasher and at the end of the day, after dinner and before bedtime, washing dishes just don’t fit into the equation. My hubby was very good about picking up dish-washing duty during my last few weeks pregnant, but as grateful as I was that he would help, he just didn’t do a great job, especially with tougher jobs. He’s impatient and doesn’t allow pans to soak overnight to get the grime off. By the morning, I end up having to re-wash the pans because they are still dirty from the night before.
I took the Dawn Power Clean 5-minute soak challenge not really knowing what to expect. I thought all dish soap was made the same, but just came in different scents. For dinner I sautéed some chicken strips in a pan knowing that even if my hubby washed the dishes tonight, tomorrow I would be re-washing this pan because he never get’s all the grease out the first time. I figured this would be a great time to test out the new Dawn Power Clean formula, so I placed a few drops in the pan, let it soak in hot water, and came back about 5-10 minutes later. I noticed that the Dawn Power Clean didn’t suds up as much as my other dish soap, so I thought that it wouldn’t be as effective. When I started wiping down the pan with a sponge, I was actually surprised that the grease came off the pan effortlessly. I didn’t need to scrub anything and within a few rinses the pan was completely clear of any food particles or residual oil. I was very happy with the results and even told my hubby this is our new solution to him not wanting to soak a pan overnight. (His solution would be to stop helping with the dishes, but he can’t get off THAT easy!)
Would I swap out my old dish washing soap for the new Dawn Power Clean? Probably. I can’t see myself using two detergents, one for everyday cleaning and one for occasional soaking. I am more likely to just always use Dawn Power Clean knowing it cleans so well. After I cleaned the pan with Dawn, I continued to clean the rest of the dishes as well. I am always concerned about soap residue staying on dishes but Dawn Power Clean rinsed off well. I love that I don’t have to scrub to get all the food off the plates, and this really makes my life a lot easier and saves some time. I especially love that I don’t have to wake up to a soaking pan in the morning, or even worse, a washed pan that needs to get re-washed from greasy residue.
