From the time I can remember, my mom cooked 6 days a week. She always cooked healthy meals that included a main dish, a starch, and a vegetable. Considering she worked during the week – I now realize that cooking 6 out of 7 days is no small feat!
When I was about 10, she started working late nights a few days out of the week. She didn’t want us to fall into a pattern of unhealthy eating habits and take out – so she would make a few meals on Sunday and freeze them for the nights she had to work late. All we had to do was defrost and cook it.
After I got pregnant, I knew that I had to have some sort of meal plan for hubby and I because I didn’t know what it would be like for the first few weeks after baby arrived. We invested in another refrigerator for the basement and I had to think of meals that would do well in the freezer. I only came up with 3 meals – so I made 5x those 3 meals. BIG MISTAKE! We were so tired of the same food – we ended up ordering out anyway!
I now have “Dinner is Ready” in my hands to give me more recipe ideas and stock my freezer full of healthy meals. Dinner is Ready is a freezer-friendly meal planner with over 150 recipes.
Think about this – you spend 1 day in the kitchen for 30 days worth of meals! I started picking out my meals on their user-friendly computer program – it gave me a shopping list of everything I needed for all the recipes. I think this is the most helpful feature! I have already scheduled a Saturday with my friend so we can try out these recipes and stock our freezers!
There are other variations of the book – such as “Lunch is Ready” and “On the Side.” The retail value of the book and software bundle is $40, but you can purchase both online for only $32. Plus if you use coupon code CAROUSEL you can score free shipping!
You can also win the book and software bundle!
