After the horrible winter we had here in NYC, I can’t tell you how ecstatic I am to finally see the trees in bloom and all the pretty flowers coming up in our new yard. The bees are starting to wake up and the other day I actually saw what I thought was flurries. Yes, it was a beautiful 50 degree day and I nearly choked when I saw little white things flying around while dropping my daughter off to school. When one landed on my windshield I realized it was just pollen. Well, JUST pollen wouldn’t sum up how I felt in that instant when I had to decide whether I preferred allergy season to snow. My oldest daughter and I both suffer from horrible seasonal allergies which makes us look like sick puppies for at least 2-3 months in the spring. I decided that I would be happy to never see another snowflake again, mostly because I know I can find relief from my season allergies at Duane Reade. Duane Reade was always my go-to store before we moved because we had 4 Duane Reade drugstores in a 5 block radius. They were everywhere and luckily, always had just what we needed. What attracted me most to them was their quick prescription availability and filling time. With two babies, they really worked with my lifestyle!
After the folks over at #CollectiveBias told me about the new Poncho app that works with Duane Reade to update users about the weather and potential allergens each day, I knew it was something I had to check out. After downloading the Poncho app, each morning I get an alert that tells me what to expect as far as weather that day. On high allergen days, I receive a coupon for some allergy relief medication from Duane Reade. Last week when my allergies had just started, the Poncho app knew that I would be suffering and sent along a $4 off coupon for Claritin, which was also on sale. I scored an awesome deal on one of my favorite allergy meds!
The Poncho app is totally customizable to your specific allergies and the times you want to receive notifications. I love that each morning I wake up I have an alert that will tell me what to expect each day. This helps me tremendously, because I can take a Claritin before the allergies really hit me hard. Once the windows open and I’m out the door, those allergies hit me like a ton of bricks. Each time the pollen count is high, you can expect to receive a coupon for an allergy relief medication that can be used at Duane Reade. No need to print anything out! They can scan your coupon right from your phone! And don’t forget to use your Balance Rewards card for added savings and perks! Poncho is currently available in NYC.
The Poncho app is even making headlines! Check out what Mashable has to say about the Poncho App! If you are in the NYC area and suffer from allergies, head over to Poncho to download the app today! It’s free to download and use, and you can receive money saving coupons when there is a high pollen count. You can also check out Duane Reade on Facebook and Twitter.
That app seems pretty nice. Too bad there isn’t a Duane Reade near me.
We don’t have Duane Reade in our area, but that app sounds amazing. Claritin and Singulair are my best friends right now – but even they aren’t taking care of my allergies as well as I would like. Ugh.
It is the time of year for allergies, isn’t it. I know my eyes have been a lot more watery than usual. We don’t have a Duane Reade around here, but I’m definitely going to be picking up some Claritin.
I love that you can find out what to expect allergy wise everyday! This is huge, especially when you don’t only take meds as needed.
My husband has really bad allergies and Claritin is the only one that works for him! Definitely bummed there isn’t a Duane Reader near me!
We don’t have a Duane Reade near us but everyone in my house suffers from allergies, and Claritin is always a lifesaver.
We don’t have Duane Reede on the West Coast. It looks like a store I could get lost in.
The allergy season her in OK is awful! I can’t wait to try out this app! #client
