“3…2…1…blastoff!” My 4 year-old Astronaut was leading the expedition to space. My 3 year-old, the train Conductor, was his 2nd in command. They were both carrying a small army of counting bears in the pocket windows of their new My 1st Career Gear dress up costumes. The pocket windows are actually there to personalize with their names, but they were happy using the pockets for tiny stowaways storage. My husband eventually made name tags in each of their pocket windows which made both of my boys smile with pride.
Earlier that day my boys ran to the door when they heard the doorbell, and were overjoyed to see the two Get Real Gear costumes they had picked out. They promptly got into character as soon as they were dressed. This shirts were easy enough for my boys to put on themselves over clothes. We didn’t have the hats, which are sold separately, but we had suitable replacements. When my kids were blasting off into space they had their arms and legs facing up to the ceiling like they were really in a rocket ship. As I straightened up the kitchen I overheard some very cute quotes from my boys. “We’re heading to the moon, hold on tight.” “Now we’re on the moon and we need to get into our rover to explore.” Then they moved into rover position on the couch. One in front with the other in back, pretending to explore the moon. Then they blasted from the moon to Mars. “Let’s go look for water on Mars in the Rover.” “Now let’s to a freezing planet” and “now let’s go to a hot planet.” This went on all morning. They pulled out some small alien toys and had conversations with the local aliens. We’re going to a birthday party later this month at the Planetarium so the arrival of the dress up from Aeromax, Inc. was timed perfect. “Mommy, can I have some cereal? Astronauts ALWAYS eat that to get big and strong.”
After snack time the boys switched from space travel to train Conductor mode. My 3 year-old loves the movie The Polar Express, so they started acting out scenes from the movie. They say March comes in like a lion, which is true in this case because we’re buried in snow….so The Polar Express is totally appropriate. After punching train tickets and checking his pretend pocket watch detail on the vest, we ended the afternoon with some hot chocolate.
The kids truly adored these costumes. They even wanted to keep them in their beds so they could put them on in the morning. Sure enough….they both walked into my bedroom with the shirts over their PJ’s. And dressing up is a daily activity in my house, but the dress up is typically Superhero related. I was really impressed that the My 1st Career Gear kept them involved with role playing that was based on realistic futures my kids could have. These authentic looking dress up even sparked some conversation about science which made mommy happy.
My 1st Career Gear is available online at Aeromax. One size fits most ages 3-5. You can connect with Aeromax on Facebook to stay in the loop on their latest news.
