Do you have a Cooking Mama game fan at home? I do! My oldest daughter loves playing Cooking Mama with hubby on the weekends- it is their way of bonding and despite it being a video game, I feel that she learns so much from it. For starters, she learns important life lessons like taking turns and individual choices. She also gets to see an animated version of what goes on in the kitchen while my husband explains the different roles of each ingredient they use in the game, plus utensils that are used. It is a fun game that I feel she can learn from.
Now there is Gardening Mama 2 for Nintendo DS. We never played the original Gardening Mama, but Garden Mama 2: Forest Friends has a similar game play experience as Cooking Mama. You can grow 50 plants includings flowers, fruits ad vegetables where your animal friends can then sell in their shops. The shops are in a fun community with Bear’s Restaurant, Rabbit’s Flower Shop, Cat’s Beauty Shop and Squirrel’s Cake Shop and by completing their requests you can earn gardening points. The points can be traded in for decorations and you can create the garden of your dreams!
Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends is rated E and priced at $29.99. You can order your copy on Amazon or download directly from the Nintendo eShop. For more information, you can visit the Mama franchise. You can also view a short video on Gardening Mama 2 below:
This is a great game to bring on the go for family summer vacations, long car or plane rides, or even for some entertainment on rainy summer days!

The Mama games are so much fun. I may have to pick myself up a copy because it’s quite possibly the only way I’ll grow a thriving garden 😉
