Do you remember the bracelets that were hard but then you would snap them on your wrist and they would bend? I can’t think of their name, but the point is that every generation has their popular collectible. When I was a kid the fads at the time were friendship bracelet and those “snap” bracelets. We also had pound puppies, and trolls (did I just age myself?)When I was a middle school teacher, the new fad was SillyBanz – which still seem to be pretty popular.
The NEW craze this year are collectible erasers called Gomu. There are over 100 different Gomu to collect in various shapes like pets gadgets, and animals. Kids 6 and up love to collect and trade these adorable erasers. A big plus – they are cheap! Prices start at under a dollar – which is perfect for kids who want to save part of their weekly allowance.
I received a generous package to get my collection of Gomu started. My little girl is past the stage of putting everything in her mouth, so I let her open a package to play with. She loved taking them apart and putting them back together – oh yeah, did I mention that each Gomu consists of 2 or more pieces? So you can use them as mini puzzles for the younger kids who do not understand the hobby of collecting and trading.
You can purchase Gomu at Walmart, Target, Toys R Us and Kmart. There are over 100 erasers to collect, so get started today!
