I’ve been fortunate to have a semi-picky eater. While my toddler is picky about the way foods look and doesn’t eat a wide variety of foods, she DOES choose healthy items. Just the other morning I asked her what she wanted for breakfast. Her response: broccoli. I can’t complain when it comes to her choice of veggies over sugary cereals!
When I was a teacher, I had A LOT of picky eaters. Since I taught cooking classes, I felt it was my job to have students try something new. I read about The Sneaky Chef and Deceptively Delicious where moms would healthy foods such as blueberries and spinach into brownies, or carrots and cauliflower into macaroni and cheese. While I believe that children should grow up eating foods and being aware of what they eat, I also believe that sometimes parents need some peace of mind knowing their kids got SOME veggies in their diet.
When I tried many of the recipes with my students where we had to sneak in veggies and fruits, it was very easy to grab a jar of already pureed baby foods. Earth’s Best offers a wide variety of fruits and veggies in their jarred foods, and now even have the easy squeeze food packets. So, the next time your picky eater refuses to eat their veggies, pop open a jar of Earth’s Best pureed carrots and add it to their favorite pasta sauce, or use Earth’ Best blueberries in a yummy muffin recipe.
