Dear friends:
If you see my friend Summer, tell him to SLOWWW down. Okay, maybe it’s too late for that because Summer is gone already. I feel cheated. As if a good friend left without saying bye. My toddler is turning 3 and starting classes and my newborn is 4 months old. Quoting my toddler “it’s not fair!” and I couldn’t agree more.
So, now that Starbucks has released their Pumpkin Spice latte, the change of leaves is inevitable. Fall is upon us and there is nothing stopping winter after that. I guess there are some things to look forward to:
Pretty fall colors- I’ve always loved autumn. I got married in October just to have gorgeous fall photos.. Murphy’s Law had something else in mind and gave us an Indian Summer and 80 degree weather. Go figure..
Sweater days- I love being able to go outside with a sweater and being comfortable. No bulky winter jackets, no sweltering 100 degree weather. Just a comfortable cool.
Park days- Nothing better than the playground after all the kids go back to school. It’s quiet, drama free, and dry- yes, I’m the mom that can’t wait until the sprinklers are off. Especially on impromptu playground days where we just don’t plan for wet clothes. I also love that my tot won’t burn herself on the insanely hot slide.
Thanksgiving- I save my maternity pants just for this holiday alone. Love the food, love the family, love the smell. Can’t wait..
The smell of a lit fireplace- no, I don’t have a fireplace, nor do any of my neighbors. The closest I’m getting to a fire place is a lit garbage can on quiet NYC corner. This is why I can appreciate the smell of the suburbs on a cool November day.
Warm coffee and hot cocoa- I can’t stomach hot coffee in the summer.
Christmas- YES! I went there! There are so many little kids in the family, it makes Christmas time extra special. Santa visits every year (we know him personally.) I love the excitement from the kids when they tear open gifts and make a mess in the living room. Yes, it’s all about the mess.
This is what it takes for me to prepare for the end of summer- I have to pep talk myself into all the wonderful things Fall and Winter have to offer. What about you? Do you already miss the summer?
Summer DID go away way too fast!! 🙁
Yes – it is gone. I wish we had a few more weeks as my daughter just learned about our splash park and loves the water, but it will be there next year. Fall is for sure upon us and I too love the colors of Fall and our family fall color drive trip on old country roads. Not ready to talk about Christmas yet or all the Chicago snow.
I will not miss the summer. I look forward to fall every year. I just bought an apple cider candle, so I know I am already looking forward to October and all that comes with it. I could use a break from the sweltering FL sun.
Ugh, I hate the winter! But I love Christmas and all the holidays that come with it. This summer was so hot it was hard to enjoy it.
I agree – the summer has flown by. I do love fall though.
Summer did go by way too fast. I wish I had put together a summer bucket list because I feel like we didn’t do anything, really. 🙁
I feel the same way!
It always goes by so fast but I am ready for fall!
School has already been in session here for two weeks, so summer is long gone – but it’s still hot! LOL
I can’t believe summer is almost over, and the kids are back in school.
Everyone keeps talking about summer gone but I guess living in South Florida I just don’t feel it yet. It seems like fall is so far away to me.
I completely agree we have about 19 official days left and I refuse to even entertain the thought of fall!
Time just keeps going by faster and faster. There just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to enjoy it all.
I am so looking forward to Winter but mostly because by the end of it I’ll be moving!
Summer went by too fast this year.
Summer went by way too fast this year!
too fast here too 🙁
Summer flew by, but I’m excited for fall too!
Me too… time just passes so quickly.
I am MORE than ready for fall
Summer passed so quickly didn’t it?
We didn’t do a darn thing this summer – do over – please!
Since we don’t have a boat this year, I am kind of glad that summer is zooming by.
Summer went by super quick here, bummer!
Yes, I miss summer already!
I hate how fast time is going by because I feel like if I blink too hard my son {who’s 3} will be going to college. BUT I am excited to say goodbye to summer {it’s too hot to do anything here!} and hello to fall!
I’m ready for Fall!
For most of my life, summer was my favorite season. However, over the last few years, I love Fall the best. And after the hot summer we have had, I’m looking forward to Fall even more. 🙂
Fall is my favourite season, and coincidentally (or maybe not), pumpkin is one of my fave treats whether it is in pie, lattes or bread. yum.
I found your friend summer. He’s here in Alabama with me and has overstayed his welcome. Can I send him back?
I agree!! We worked so hard all summer long building the Coop and raised gardens. I feel like we have had no relaxation time!
Actually by the end of summer, I’m more than ready for it to move along!
I’m so depressed about it being over already…I felt like I did’t enjoy it at ALL this year 🙁
We will still have summer a little while longer here in Texas.
I feel like I blinked and summer was gone. Knock on wood, I’m happy it’s not raining though.
Summer didn’t go fast enough for me w/ all that heat.
That’s true— it WAS really hot this year!
darn august was cold compared to July for me
