New York City is one of the most exciting cities on the planet. There are enough activities on offer to suit the needs of anyone, regardless of background or personal tastes. The ‘big apple’ is one of the most visually striking cities in the world. It has a spectacular skyline and is home to some of America’s most culturally recognized landmarks, such as the Statue of Liberty and Times Square.
Advantages of raising children in NYC
One of the most important aspects of raising children is to find them a good school with decent teachers. New York City has one of the largest selections of public and private schools in America and some of the most well respected establishments in the country. Its schools take children of all ages, backgrounds and cultures.
In terms of education it does not just stop at the wide selection of schooling that is available. New York City is crammed full of world-class museums, art galleries and libraries, so there are plenty of family-friendly activities to take advantage of during the evenings or over the weekends.
Transport connections around the city are great and parents do not have to worry about driving their kids around when they reach their teens. In fact there is pretty much no need to drive in the city at all; after all, the transport system operates 24 hours a day.
Disadvantages of raising children in NYC
Although New York City has a large selection of activities and provides some of the country’s best education, there are still aspects of life that can be missing. For example, because the city is very vibrant and always has a lot going on, it can sometimes be very difficult to escape the hustle and bustle to enjoy a little peace and quiet.
NYC is also a fairly expensive city to live in, making it difficult for some people to relocate or make a living, especially if they do not have a form of regular employment. That said there are various places located just away from the downtown area that are much more wallet friendly and with the excellent transport links getting to the inner city is not unduly difficult.
Differences between suburban and city living
It can be very difficult to choose a piece of America real estate. Suburban living and city living could not be further apart. Suburban real estate is often cheaper, however the low prices often come with other problems, such as lack of local activities and limited job opportunities. New York is a bustling city providing residents with things to do, whether it is night or day. Although it can be an expensive place to live there are certainly more job opportunities and accommodation options than in suburban America. Some people think that to enjoy peace and quiet they must escape to the country, however that is not always the case. Within a few miles of the central areas of New York small communities can be found that not only rival their suburban contemporaries, but that also have the advantage of easy access to the big city.

I am always happy to learn new things about other big cities, thanks for sharing!
I would love to live in NYC with my family.
My daughter keeps talking about visiting there. None of us have ever been but it would be so much fun!
