How do you personalize your toddler’s room? +Chance to win a set of curtains from Baby Bedding Zone!

Lately I’ve been having sleep issues with my toddler. Bribery and a rewards chart seemed to have done the trick for the most part, but I wanted to make her bed a little more fun for her, thinking maybe she would want to sleep in it. I let her choose her own sheets from what we already had, and made her bed with her, but this didn’t seem to do anything. When I was flipping through the latest Babies R Us circular, she spotted a Mickey Mouse bed that she wanted. Each time I told her she would get a present if she slept, she insisted on this Mickey Toddler Bed. I don’t think that getting her the Mickey bed she wants would be the best idea – only because tomorrow she may  be interested in something else. Also, her crib/toddler bed was a present from her grandmother, so I am not ready to swap it out for a plastic toddler bed just yet.

When I had the opportunity to work with Baby Bedding Zone, I knew this would be a great opportunity to personalize my toddler’s bed. I was presented with a few options in bedding, and I decided that the ladybug crib bedding would be great. The red with white polka dot sheets almost look like Mickey, plus she LOVES ladybugs, so I  thought this would be a hit. When it arrived (only 2 days after I ordered it) my toddler saw the picture on the package and immediately wanted it. We threw it in the wash, made her bed, and got ready for something fantastic to happen – maybe she would sleep in her bed tonight! After a two hour struggle to get her to sleep, I caved in, held her until she fell asleep, and took off her sheets the very next day. I explained to her that since she doesn’t sleep in her bed, she doesn’t need sheets. She became very upset and threw a tantrum, but I walked away and didn’t give in. I explained to her that once she started sleeping in her own bed she can have the sheets. 2 weeks later, she is sleeping ALL NIGHT in her own bed! Personalizing her area seemed to have done the trick!
