My nephew is on his way to potty training! With his new little brother due in just a few weeks, my brother and sister in law are ready to get this boy out of diapers! He has a big sister who we thought would have motivated him to potty train sooner, but boys will be boys and at 3 years old, he’s been fighting the potty.
For the past two years, I hosted a Pull Ups PlayDate party for my toddler and her friends. The first year we invited all her friends who were not potty trained, but were in the age range of potty training. By the time we were ready to host our second Pull Ups party, she was already potty trained but many of her friends weren’t. Both times, ALL the kid and their parents had a great time doing the potty dance, and sharing tips on potty training their children. Since every child is different, sharing tips and hearing other parent’s experiences can really help determine the best approach for potty training.
My sister in law is no stranger to this! She felt that potty training her daughter was much easier than potty training her son, and was excited to throw a party for her son and his friends to celebrate their first flush. She invited children who were already potty trained, as well as babies who were of potty training age, so the age range was 18 months to 4 years old. We received a great First Flush celebration box full of goodies for our guests, which included party hats, whistles, stickers, reward charts, and high value coupons, as well as plenty of Pull Ups samples to get my nephew on the path to potty training success. We also thought it would be fun to have a giveaway at the party, so we purchased a potty to be given to one of the children.
A total of 8 moms and their children showed up this past weekend, so you can say it was a full house with lots of fun, and even a few tantrums. It’s been super cold in NYC so it was nice to get the kids together to have an indoor playdate. The kids had a great time at their play date and the moms were able to talk about their potty training experiences. I’m hoping that my second baby will potty train as easy as my first, but after talking with parents of multiple children, I learned that this may not be the case. It also seemed that parents of boys either had a harder time potty training or started later than parents of girls. I feel this party was a huge success, because not only did the children have fun, but the parents, even the seasoned ones, got a lot out of
Did you know that there was an app for potty training? It is available for iOS or Android and called the Pull-Ups® Big Kid® App. Be sure to check it out!
I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting for Pull-Ups. I received product samples to facilitate my review and to host a party. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating
Awesome idea. Motivate them as little kids, and the pics will be a perfect way to torture them as older kids. “Did you see Johnny’s Potty Party pics, yet”…lol.
Little ones love celebrations and parties so hosting one that encourages something like potty training is genius!
Wish they had that app for Windows phones. We’re starting to train. Wish us luck!
How much fun!
That was my experience as well. My son was much slower to train than my daughter was!
Yeah my three year old is still fighting the potty too. Silly boys!
How exciting! 🙂
You gotta make it a party!
I need to re-potty train my 2.5 yr old. I’m so bummed she reverted back to diapers.
I am so glad that I am over the potty training phase…I am now at the “teach me to drive so I can get my driver’s license” phase! LOL
I am ready for potty training to happen but my son is not, lol.
How fun! Going potty like a big kid is definitely something to celebrate!
I bet you guys had a blast!
Aww what a fun party! 🙂
So much fun!
Thankfully our potty training days aren’t around the corner anymore, but I’ll have to remember this for later!
I wish I would have had an app when we were potty training.
LOL I didn’t know they had an app for potty training but I’m not surprised, there is pretty much an app for everything these days.
